During all this time it was conquered by many different populations: Phoenicians, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Normans and Spanish, just to mention a few of them. Fully different cultures gifted us with a unique combination of artistic styles, people and traditions.
Furthermore Palermo offers unexpected landscapes, a mild weather and it shows also the recent history: for instance we can still see traces of the bombing of World War II.

3000 years history
During our walking tour we will discover the incredible history of the city, founded by Phoenicians in the 8th century B.C., conquered by Arabs in 831 and by the Normans in 1071, starting a period of immense prosperity. Very interesting is also the Spanish period (that left us many baroque extravagant palaces and squares).
Furthermore in Palermo you can learn also some unknown aspect of World War II (the city was bombed in 1943) and of course we will deal also with what happened after the war. That means mafia and the problems that the city has been facing.

Street food markets
The street food markets are an important part of your walking tour of Palermo. Firstly because it is fun to experience the colors of the products and the spirit of the locals buying the best fish or the freshest fruit. Secondly they are perfect places to take amazing pictures, but also a way to be part of our everyday life today.
We have more the one market, the most famous are Capo, Vucciria and Ballarò. So we normally choose one, the most convenient for our itinerary.
